Spring Picnic for SJS Students & Their Families Kelsey McKee, PS-SJS Chapter Vice President, organized the first Spring Picnic for current Penn State Students and their families. The free event was held Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Cape May County Park and Zoo and was sponsored by the Penn State South Jersey Shore Alumni Chapter. Penn State SJS Alumni Support Relay For Life 2014 Penn State SJS Chapter participated in the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life in Middle Township, held Friday, May 16, 2014, at the Middle Twp. High School, Cape May Court House, NJ. Kelsey McKee, PS-SJS Chapter Vice President, was the alumni lead for this event.  NBC 40 WMGM-TV Weatherman Dan Skeldon, second from left, was the MC for the annual Relay For Life of Middle Township, held Friday, May 16, 2014 and is pictured with Penn State South Jersey Shore Chapter members John McKee, Ralph Cooper and Ginny Cooper. Chapter Vice President Kelsey McKee also participated. . SJS Chapter Volunteers support SJ Foodbank The Penn State South Jersey Shore Chapter members, fellow alumni and friends volunteered May 10, 2014 to support the SJ Foodbank and helped process food donations gathered during the annual Postal Service food drive.  Volunteer Event in Atlantic County - Penn State alumni joined with other volunteers in May 2014 to support the SJ Foodbank. Volunteers are needed at the Foodbank on a regular basis. Penn State Chapter Supports Habitat for Humanity A Habitat for Humanity work day was held March 15, 2014 by the Penn State South Jersey Shore Chapter for members and area alumni. The home site was in the Venice Park district of Atlantic City. Penn State alumni volunteers helped with the Habitat For Humanity of Atlantic County ((HFHAC) affiliate’s ongoing project of performing critical repairs to homes damaged during Superstorm Sandy in the Fall of 2012.  Volunteer Day in Atlantic City - Penn State alumni joined with other volunteers for a work day in March 2014 supporting Habitat For Humanity of Atlantic County.  Kelsey McKee, Vice President, Penn State South Jersey Shore Alumni Chapter, participated in the Habitat volunteer day on Mar. 15, 2014 in Atlantic City. .  Martin Luther King Day – Ocean City Clean Up Day – Jan. 20, 2014 Penn State SJS Chapter members and friends helped support the 2014 Martin Luther King Day Ocean City Clean Up Day on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2014   . Friendly Reminder for future Students and Parents Plan Now … Chapter Scholarship Deadline - April 20, 2104 The Penn State South Jersey Shore Alumni Chapter is offering two $1,000 scholarships for 2014. The Chapter's scholarship information is available at over 24 high schools in our 4-county coverage area. Check in with your Guidance Office, or use the app. link below, and apply soon. Sand In Their Shoes - The Penn State SJS Chapter supported the Ocean City Environmental Commission with a Beach Plum planting project on the OC dune area at 23rd St. on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013. Volunteer members and friends of our Chapter partnered with associates from Viridian Energy (retail energy supplier) and 30 plus volunteers spent a warm and sunny afternoon planting the saplings from Jalma Farms in Dennis Twp. This is the 2nd month in a row that your Penn State Chapter has participated in a community activity.  Penn Staters turned out for a Make A Difference Day at the Community Foodbank in Atlantic County on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013. Our crew was part of the day-long event that packaged 5,000 boxes of holiday dinners for the Foodbank. To volunteer and help with Chapter community outreach activities, watch the SJS website or Facebook page for events listing.
